This study aims to analyze the alignment of the concept of blessing in the Montalai ritual of the Saluan tribe with Christian teachings, as well as to explore how the ritual can be translated and understood within the framework of Christian teachings using Stephen B. Bevans' translation model. The methodology employed is a qualitative approach with in-depth interviews and observation of the Montalai ritual's implementation. Data obtained from interviews with cultural leaders and hunters, as well as field observations, were analyzed to identify culturally relevant symbols or elements connected to the concept of blessing in Christianity. The research findings indicate that symbols such as Tinumpu Nu Tano as the source of blessing, offerings, prayer chants, and taboos in the Montalai ritual can be translated as expressions of blessing requests in the Christian context, without altering the core Christian teaching about blessings. The conclusion of this study reveals that translating the Montalai ritual into Christian teachings has the potential to enrich the spiritual understanding of the Saluan community, but requires caution to avoid syncretism. This research contributes to the development of contextual theology and inclusive practices in delivering the Gospel message to communities with strong cultural traditions.
