The Dialectics of Moral Responsibility and Christian Parents’ Communication in the Sexual Education of Girls

This study aims to describe the role of parents in providing Christian value-based sexuality education for girls in rural communities facing a high prevalence of unintended pregnancy. Utilizing a descriptive quantitative approach, this study involved 48 parents from the “Hosiana” Congregation in Banggai Regency as respondents. Data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistical techniques to determine the average tendencies of respondent behavior. The results indicate that parents possess a high sense of responsibility (Mean = 3.75), with a primary emphasis on the theological value that the body is the temple of the Holy Spirit (Mean = 3.79). However, parents' comfort level in discussing sexuality openly remains in the moderate category (Mean = 2.85), and the availability of formal educational programs from the church is rated as very low (Mean = 1.79). In conclusion, there is a distinct dialectic between the idealism of moral responsibility and practical communication barriers, coupled with a lack of institutional support. These findings imply a pressing need to strengthen the synergy between families and the church through technical communication training for parents to ensure the moral protection and the future of girls optimally.
